John provided an update regarding SSR 90 rebuilds. John is waiting for SSR 90 parts for 75 units scheduled to be rebuilt this year.
The mine rescue handbook will be reprinted with corrections this year. Target is September 2011. It will include emergency procedures for: Entrapment

FUTURE GUIDELINE MINE RESCUE RESPONSE IN EXPANSIVE MINES Mine Rescue officers have been instructed to obey the highway traffic act and therefore are not to use lights and sirens. The same requirements apply to relief men. Amendments will be made to the policies and procedures and will be distributed to all MRO’s and relief men.
It was agreed that all next year’s district competitions will be held on the second week of May. The information will be relayed to all MRO’s by Charlie

Mine Rescue Re-entry Protocols - Luc Beauchamp sent his apologies to the TAC
committee he definitely will deliver an update at the October 19, 2011 meeting to be held in Sudbury.
The 2011 Provincial Mine Rescue Competition will be held underground at Hemlo Operations Williams Mine on June 10 and 11, 2011.
The next meeting will be in June and will be held in Marathon, June 10, 11, 2011
MTC – Jamie Mortson - No Meeting and Jamie presented a formal update on the Common Core.
Expect that the regulation changes to 854/90 will be completed by July 2011.
Loss Control Committee – Gil Bertrand - A meeting was held on April 19, 2011
Kerry Willett provided an update on the WSN Mining Sector Activities starting with a
PowerPoint on statistics prepared for our group by Dawna Nighbor, Business Analyst, WSN: Establish the Ministry of Labour as the lead for accident prevention, transferring it from the
WSIB. Appoint a new Chief Prevention Officer to coordinate and align the prevention system. Note: This Act amends or repeals more than one Act.
Confined Spaces Consolidation April 4, 2011, Amendments have been approved to
consolidate all regulatory requirements respecting confined spaces under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) into one regulation, namely O. Reg. 632/05 (Confined Spaces) Workplace Safe and Insurance Board (WSIB) will provide new additions to Work Well core
audit with Sector-based Focus on Priority Hazards.
Amendments to Regulation 854 (Mines and Mining Plants) These proposed amendments include:
Updating training requirements to reflect changes in training programs
approved by the Ministry of Training, Universities, and Colleges; Updating diesel exhaust exposure limits;
Updating provisions related to mine hoisting plants;
Updating requirements pertaining to work on wheel and tire assemblies; Adding occupational noise requirements, consistent with existing
requirements found in other OHSA regulations;
Updating provisions pertaining to the administration of mine rescue;

Working Environment Committee: Bruce Fraser - Bruce attended a meeting on May 26th in Timmins; the next meeting will be in Goderich on September 22nd.

MSD sub-committee, no activity, WSN put together an MSD course, not much participation Guide to Healthy Pregnancy in the mining workplace, available by year end on the

Measuring of ISO cyanides is still difficult to measure, there is no means to measure exactly
there is no science for methodology.
Tammy Eger is looking for places to conduct studies on Whole Body Vibration.
DMC would commit to provide Tammy with a workplace where a raise climber is being used. Project for 2011 and 2012, safety meeting talk on dermatitis. Also a video on silica awareness.
Fatigue management. Development underground mine ventilation plan. Research for support for 2012, Noise research.
Jim talked about a scent free policy in the workplace.
Roy Slack- Workplace Safety North, Roy kept his report short as Candys Ballanger Michaud was there to give a more in depth report about WSN.
Roy stated the Mining Conference was a success. Candys Ballanger Michaud went on record stating that the Mining Conference will continue in the future.
MiHR: Denis Beaudoin - spoke about MIHR, the pilot project is completed 128 workers have been
certified, through Canada. A national presentation was made at the CIM Conference in Montreal. There were over 120 people in attendance.
Denis Beaudoin attended the CIM conference in Montreal, presented Roy Slack paper on the Chilean Rescue, as well as accepted an award presented to Canadian companies who were involved in the Chilean rescue.
Hoist Plant Sub-committee, a Slack Rope regulation, requiring a slack rope protection system on newly installed or refurbished hoist after January 2012.

Roy Slack read out Cementations Policy on Recruiting at functions which clearly indicates no Cementation Employee will recruit others during these types of meetings. He also asked that if a Cementation employee is found to be recruiting that he would like to notified. Andy Fern indicated he will also write a similar policy for Dumas.
